Understanding Their Bodies, Preparing for Their Future
What if children learned not only the names of their body parts, but also how those parts work together—and why caring for them matters?
Welcome to the Consumer Health Education blog! At Consumer Health Education Consultancy LLC, we believe that understanding the human body is an important part of preparing children for life. Our mission has three connected goals.
1. Build knowledge for a healthier future.
We want children to grow into adults who understand their bodies and can make informed decisions about their health.
Through the study of all 11 body systems, one course at a time, we help young people connect what happens inside their bodies with everyday habits. Why does the heart need exercise? What do the kidneys do? How does food become fuel?
Our purpose is to help children understand the reasons behind health advice, giving them knowledge they can use throughout their lives.
2. Help children and families navigate healthcare.
Understanding the body is one part of health education. Knowing how to seek care is another.
We want young people to understand the role of a pediatrician or primary care clinician, the purpose of preventive checkups, and the importance of asking questions. Regular checkups help families follow a child’s health and development—even when the child feels well.
As children mature, we want them to become informed participants in conversations about their own care.
3. Open the door to possibilities in healthcare.
A child does not need a doctor in the family to become curious about medicine.
Early exposure to anatomy—the study of body structure—and physiology—the study of how the body works—can introduce children to subjects they may choose to explore more deeply.
Some may discover an interest in becoming physicians, nurses, physical therapists, researchers, or other healthcare professionals. Others may simply gain a better understanding of themselves. Both outcomes matter.
Bringing the mission to life
The Junior Medical Academy Program is being developed to bring these goals together through guided lessons, illustrations, discussion, and activities.
Our Human Body Systems Series gives families another way to explore these subjects together, one book and one body system at a time.
This blog will share explanations, learning ideas, and program updates for parents, educators, and curious young people.
Explore the books on our website, and watch for upcoming Junior Medical Academy announcements. Let’s help children discover how amazing their bodies are—and how much there is to learn.
